Tips For Keeping Your Head From Itching

There are certainly things in life that are more annoying than an itchy head, but the list is not a long one, as an itchy head can cause your entire day to feel like something that is difficult to make it through. And while some people think that "shampooing often enough" is the only thing one has to do to keep from getting an itchy head, this is rarely the case; some people are more susceptible than others to ending up with dandruff or with an itchy head, and the keys to getting rid of this problem are more complicated than simply washing your hair more often.

Of course, the frequency with which you wash your hair will certainly make a difference as to how often you deal with an itchy head, but it is by no means the only determining factor; also, if you wash your hair regularly and still deal with an itchy scalp, you might want to consider switching to a different shampoo, as your scalp may have become immune to the one you are using!

Wearing a hat frequently will also make a big difference in the amount of itchiness you deal with; unless you work a job that requires you to wear a hat, you should make sure you are limiting your “hat wearing,” especially if you have been dealing with an itchy scalp!

Another thing that will make a big difference in how your scalp feels is what you are putting into your hair; if you put gel or hairspray in your hair every day, and you deal with an itchy scalp every day in spite of shampooing frequently, there is a good chance that what you are using does not agree with your scalp, and you should try switching to something different.

When your scalp is itching, make sure you do not scratch at it, as this will only make things worse; instead, you should leave it alone and wash your hair as soon as you can, and then you should start following these steps until you get rid of the problem once and for all!

Is Eating On A Schedule Necessary?

One thing that is interesting to realize is that a lot of the advice you will find on “the right foods to eat,” or “the right ways to eat” conflict with one another, which can make the whole issue of knowing what to eat and when to eat somewhat confusing; one aspect of this that especially tends to give people problems is whether or not it is good to eat on a schedule, and while some people and sources will tell you that eating on a schedule is good, and while others will tell you that eating on a schedule is bad, the true answer is: it all depends!

The idea that breakfast is the most important meal of the day is one thing that is absolutely true, as breakfast will enable your body to start working, and to have energy heading into the day; this means that whether you are hungry or not when you wake up in the morning, you should always take the time and make the effort to get a good, healthy breakfast into your body before you start your day.

It is certainly good to eat regularly in the rest of the day as well, but one thing to realize is that if you consume a fair amount of grains and sugars, your body will often have cravings when it does not truly need food; because of this, it is important to have a set eating plan – as far as the times of day when you will typically aim to eat – if you regularly consume a fair amount of grains and sugars, as this will keep you from giving into your cravings, and will enable you to be much healthier as a result.

If you tend to avoid grains and sugars for the most part, on the other hand, your body will also experience far fewer cravings, and will instead “tell you” when it needs food; if you avoid grains and sugars in your regular diet, you can pretty much avoid the whole “eating on a schedule” thing, and can instead listen to your body, putting food into it when you feel hungry, and not putting food into it when you are not particularly in the mood for food.

Healthy eating is sometimes complicated and confusing, but with this information in mind, you will at least know whether you should be eating on a schedule, or can instead simply listen to what your body is saying.

Getting Back to Sleep - Dealing With Insomnia in the Moment

You’ve heard all the advice—set a regular bedtime, release your stress through exercise, reserve your bedroom as a place to sleep—but you’re awake at one in the morning so you need help now. This moment. What’s an insomniac to do?

Try getting up and doing something for a bit. Much as you may want to lie there and hope you’re going to fall asleep, you’ll be better off if you actually get up, do something, and try going back to bed in a little bit. Think of going to sleep as landing a plane; you missed the run way the first time, so you need to circle around and try to bring it in for a landing nice and smooth this time. You may have missed your body’s natural window of sleep opportunity, but by getting up and then going back to bed again, you may be able to get to sleep in thirty minutes or so.

Try the old standby - warm milk. Many insomniacs find drinking warm milk really does help them fall asleep. If you're not crazy about warm milk, try a natural sleep tea like Valerian or Chamomile, both of which are quite effective.

Do something relaxing and boring. Keep the lights dim and do something that will make you sleepy. Resist the temptation to watch movies, surf the web, or use electronics because the stimulation will prevent you from falling asleep. You'll do better with something like reading, crocheting, or just thinking positive thoughts.

Come up with a plan. If anxiety is at the root of your insomnia, try writing out a plan regarding the issue. Don't make calls, send emails, or take any action; write out a plan regarding what you can do and what you must leave to others.

When you're done, try going back to bed and see if you can fall asleep this time. Get some rest!

Getting Your Daily Ration Of Protein

Giving your body is its daily portion of protein is one of the most important things you can do for it, as the positives protein provides for your body range from helping your muscles remain strong and healthy to helping your body maintain energy throughout the day; while most people understand the importance of protein, however, many people fail to pay close attention to how much protein they are getting - or, they are simply unaware of where they can go for their protein, which causes their quest to be much more difficult!

Of course, meats are the best source of protein, and while most people are aware of this, they often are unaware of the fact that certain meats are not only healthier for you, but also contain more protein; try to focus on lean meats (such as chicken and turkey) and on seafood, as these will give you better and healthier protein than red meat - and also be aware of the fact that organic meat is far better for you than inorganic meat, and in fact, organic red meat is even healthier for you than inorganic lean meat!

If you are not able to eat meat as often as you would like (or if you do not especially want to eat meat as often as you should in order to get your full amount of protein), realize that there is certainly nothing wrong with getting your protein through smoothies and protein bars; make sure that you are getting whey protein, as opposed to soy protein, and be aware of how much protein you are getting in these smoothies and bars, as you should aim to get a minimum of 50 grams of protein every day.

And also, realize that there are plenty of snacks through which you can get the protein you need, ranging from seeds to nuts to nut butter (such as peanut butter) to yogurt.

When you take the time to pay close attention to how much protein you are getting, you will not only be increasing the health of your body, but will also be giving your body more energy, so start paying attention to the protein you are getting, and make sure you are providing your body with as much as it requires!

Easy To Implement Weight Loss Tips

by: Jesse Whitehead

Most weight loss tips focus on specific diet plans or off-limit foods. This can be beneficial to some, but many more can be helped by taking a broader view. You can easily change many general areas to effect dramatic weight loss.

Look in your refrigerator. Do you use whole milk and other dairy products? Switch to non-fat, and you not only save significant calories but also instantly make your diet healthier. Are there fresh vegetables, such as carrots and celery, in the crisper for quick snacks? Such foods can help tame hunger pains and are so low in calories they are almost unrestricted on most diet plans.

Do you drink coffee or tea? If so, do you add sugar and creamer? Creamer does not have many calories per teaspoon, but few people use only a teaspoon. Most add several tablespoons to each cup of coffee. Switching to a light creamer or skim milk and artificial sweetener cuts calories and is better for you.

At lunch, do you always make your sandwich with two pieces of bread? Trim calories by using one piece of regular bread or two pieces of thinly sliced diet bread. Use mustard instead of mayonnaise for greater calorie savings.

If you drink soda, opt for the diet varieties. One average sized serving of regular cola has almost 200 calories, putting the weekly total at 1,400 calories if only one per day is consumed. Eliminating them, and not replacing the calories with anything else, can account for the loss of more than one pound a month. This is just from cutting out the sodas, and not altering any other eating habit.

Other simple changes you can make are having eggs poached or boiled instead of fried and eliminating or reducing butter on popcorn. When selecting side orders, choose plain rice instead of potatoes, and limit the amount of dressing on the salad. If you must have dinner rolls, limit yourself to one instead of two.

All of these weight loss tips are minor changes that you can make with or without altering your other eating habits. As long as you do not replace the calories you have saved, these small changes can reward you with significant weight loss over the next few months.

Examining The GoFit Ball

You may have seen people with one of those big exercise balls in their home and thought to yourself, "There is no way that thing really works." But rather than automatically assuming that they do not really work, you should do some research on them yourself. And you just might be surprised what you turn up when you do some research on the GoFit ball!

First off, you should be aware that many different companies make exercise balls, and not all exercise balls are created equal; some have a tendency to become sticky over time, or to pop easily. The GoFit is the best when it comes to exercise balls, as theirs are durable without any stickiness or funny odor! What's more, you can get a GoFit ball without spending a whole bunch of dough; for instance, the 65 centimeter GoFit ball - along with a 25 minute instructional DVD - costs only $33 (and it is only 24 dollars if you shop for it on Amazon!).

If you decide to buy a GoFit ball, keep in mind that you should judge what size is right for you based on the length of your legs, rather than based on your actual height. This is important for you to remember, as GoFit advises its sizes based on height, but if you have long or short legs for your height, you should adjust accordingly.

So then, the question becomes: "All right, it's inexpensive, sure - but does the darn thing actually work?"

The short answer to this question is: As long as you use it regularly and correctly, yes, it absolutely does work! You will be able to significantly strengthen your core, as long as you keep the ball inflated to the proper size (it comes with an air pump) and use it several times per week. Furthermore, you will feel a huge improvement in your back - even if you have had back problems, and even if these back problems have been severe!

You can actually have a fun, easy workout, for a very reasonable price; the investment in a GoFit is well worth it, as you surely will see if you buy one yourself!
