How To Keep Yourself From Getting A Rash From Your Deodorant

Generally speaking, rashes are more of a problem for the way they look than for the way they make you feel, as rashes generally tend to give you very few problems if they are not rubbed against - but when it comes to a rash under your armpits, it is unlikely that anyone will see it, but these rashes will still cause you a great deal of problems, as your skin will be rubbing against it all throughout the day. Most people have no problems avoiding rashes under their armpits, as they simply need to find a deodorant that works for them and stick with it, but if you have found that you tend to get such rashes more frequently than you would like, there are a few things you can consider doing in order to fix this problem.

First off, realize that you can use the same deodorant for a long time and have no problems at all, and then, this can suddenly change; if you have been using a certain deodorant for a long time and have just started to experience rashes for the first time, you may simply need to change the deodorant you are using.

Rashes can also occur as a result of putting on deodorant when your armpits are still wet; if you have found that you have sensitive skin in your armpits, consider waiting until 30 or 45 minutes after your shower before you apply your deodorant.

Another thing people do wrong - especially those people who have sensitive armpits - is that they put on deodorant several times per day, which can put a lot of stress on their armpits; if you usually put on deodorant at night, and then take a shower in the morning before putting on deodorant again, consider putting it on only in the morning, after your shower!

The solutions will be different for each person who has sensitive skin under their armpits, but with these approaches in mind, you should be on the right track for solving your problem!

How To Keep Yourself Awake In A Healthier Manner

One of the toughest things for many people is trying to stay awake throughout the day, regardless of whether you are an adult going to work each day or a college student slogging through classes, as it is easy for the days to catch up to you and for you to want to simply stay in bed; when this happens, many people drink or eat different things that help them stay awake, but if you are one such person, you will want to make sure that whatever you are doing to stay awake is also healthy for you.

One of the best ways to stay awake throughout the day is to simply get enough sleep and make sure you are waking up at the top of your sleep cycle; most people sleep in sleep cycles of around an hour and a half apiece, and you will feel much more awake when you wake up at the end of a sleep cycle instead of in the middle of one, so figure out how long your sleep cycle is, and aim to always wake up when one sleep cycle is ending and the next one is beginning.

On top of making sure you get enough sleep and that you are waking up at the right point in your sleep cycle, you will want to start your day the right way; if you start out your day in a sluggish manner, this will carry over into the remainder of your day, but when you are able to start out with a walk, a healthy breakfast, and a bit of relaxing, you will feel much more awake - and much more ready to attack the day!

And when you reach a place where it is necessary to put something in your body to keep yourself awake, avoid sugars and carbonated beverages; instead, try for some fruit (apples are especially good at keeping the mind and body awake!), and drink tea and coffee (with no cream or sugar!).

When you adhere to these methods, you will effectively avoid that tiredness that plagues so many people and gives them constant problems, and will instead be able to stay awake throughout the day - in a healthy manner.

Exercising By Jumping Rope

There are plenty of ways to stay in shape effectively, but some people enjoy changing up the approach they are taking to their workout, and others, quite frankly, are not a fan of the typical options such as "walking and jogging." Whatever the case, it is good to explore new options for staying fit and healthy, and one option that is especially great is jumping rope. Jumping rope exercises your legs, of course, but that is not all it does; jumping rope also exercises your arms, your shoulders, your chest, and your abs - all at once!

If you have back problems or knee problems, you should definitely think twice before picking up a jump rope, as jumping rope can cause issues for those who deal with these problems. For others, however, jumping rope is a great workout that is relatively low-impact, and best of all, this workout can be done in a small amount of time right there at home!

The first step for jumping rope is, of course, buying the right equipment; the jump rope itself is the biggest part of the equipment. And as for clothes, you should be able to get by with regular workout clothes - some good walking or running shoes and some athletic apparel. And once you start shopping for jump ropes, you might be surprised to find how much some companies charge for jump ropes! Your best bet is going to be to buy a simple, straightforward jump rope from a reputable company; in this way, you can know you are getting a quality product without paying for anything you do not need.

When it comes to actually jumping rope, you should start out with a low count, as you might not register the fatigue until later. Put yourself on a schedule, gradually increasing the repetitions and the speed over time, and as you follow this schedule, you will see a big difference in your body!

You can jump rope outdoors, and if the weather is bad (as long as you have high enough ceilings!) you can even jump rope in your kitchen or foyer on the tile. And once you get into it, you will start to see that jumping rope is a great full-body workout that you can engage in without even feeling like you are working out!

Want to Know What you can do for Carpal Tunnel syndrome?

There is nothing worse then having your livelyhood put at risk because of a repetitive stress syndrome such as carpal tunnel. People who work a lot with their hands are prime candidates for having problems with this ailment. Computer programmers, receptionists, hair stylists are just a few of the people who often begin to have problems with this syndrome.

The symptoms of carpal tunnel typically consist of pain in the forearms, wrists, and hand. Some people complain of numbness in their first fingers also. Doctors may first prescribe pain killers along with recommending wearing a brace. Surgery is also sometimes preformed to relieve carpal tunnel pain. There are things that you can do to really reduce your chances of having to suffer surgery.

What can you do to reduce your chances of carpal tunnel syndrome? Your first line of defence needs to be your body position and posture. Occupational therapists recommend keeping your wrists in a neutral position at all times if you can when working. This means that your wrists should be as straight as possible. This is one reason that doctors often recommend braces to help to keep your wrist in a neutral position. Another way of looking at a neutral position is the way piano players play.  Their wrists are pretty flat when looked at from the side. Their wrists are not bent at severe angles at all.

You can also reduce your chances of suffering from carpal tunnel by doing stretches and practicing massage therapy on yourself. A great book to reference for this is The Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. This book not only focuses on carpal tunnel but pains that can exist anywhere in your body and how you can take care of it yourself. This book explains pretty well how to do self massage for carpal tunnel. To begin stretching bend and move your fingers in all the directions they can move carefully. Running through your range of motion helps to keep everying loose and healthy. Once you have stretched out your fingers then stretch out your wrist through all of its range of motion. Stretching helps to reduce strain on the tendons and muscles.

A combination of massage therapy, stretching, and correct body positioning can really put you on the path to avoiding pain. Doing these things at least once a day if not more often then that really doesn't take that much time and will save your body in the end. Make sure if you work in a profession that may contribute to carpal tunnel that you be proactive about avoiding it.

Tips For Staying Awake During The Day

Many people tend to have a hard time staying awake throughout the day, especially if they work at a job that requires them to sit at a desk all day (after all, sitting at a desk, at a computer, is not all that exciting!), but while it might be difficult at times to stay awake throughout the day, it is also often necessary - so rather than complaining about how difficult it is to stay awake, you will be better off figuring out what works for you to help you stay awake.

Getting the right amount of sleep, of course, is the best way to ensure that you are able to stay awake throughout the day, but in case you are not getting enough sleep, one thing you can consider doing to stay awake throughout the day is drink your coffee or energy drink later in the day than you usually do; most people who drink coffee or energy drinks are in the habit of drinking them in the morning, but if you wait until later in the day, you will avoid the crash that can often occur as a result of consuming this energy boost too early!

Going for a short walk is another great way to help you stay awake; if you are working at a desk all day, going for a walk can get your blood flowing a bit - which will help you to stay awake - and will also give your mind a bit of a break (as well as a bit of a change of scene!), which will also go a long way in keeping you awake and alert.

And even though it might not always be possible to indulge in this particular approach, one of the best ways to get a new burst of energy in the middle of the day is to take a nap; if you work at home (or if you have a long enough lunch break to make this a possibility), consider taking a 20 or 30 minute nap during the day, and watch as your body and mind are given new energy for the remainder of the day.

You may already have a few tricks up your sleeve for keeping yourself awake when you are getting tired during the day - but if you do not, these are some great ideas for you to keep in mind!

Vegetarian Weight Loss - How to Lose 5 Pounds in a Week

by: Laura Ng

Have you been trying to lose weight as a vegetarian but you're not getting encouraging results? Now, if you're aiming to lose 10 pounds in 7 days, that's not pragmatic and not safe for your health. Here I offer effective solutions to help you lose 1 - 5 pounds a week the vegetarian style. In fact, I always suggest to those overweight vegetarians to keep to a max of 4 pounds a week so you won't suffer loose skin post weight loss. But if you're only overweight by about 20 pounds, then I think losing 5 pounds in a week is pretty safe for you.

Before we start, I want you to know the fact that your scale is not the best way to tell you the real shape and size of your body even after you manage to lose 5 pounds in a week, as you could have gained some muscle mass after applying the following techniques, which isn't a bad thing actually since muscle helps burn more fat. So, the best way is observe your body in the mirror every seven days for any significant changes in conjunction with the scale.

How to Eat for Healthy Vegetarian Weight Loss

1. Break your 3 normal main meals into 5 smaller portion sizes - morning, snack, lunch, snack, dinner. This will keep your body metabolically active throughout the day. Remember, never skip any meals, especially breakfast as it's the most important meal to kick-start your metabolism.

2. No fried or processed vegetarian food. If you're eating out and only have processed food choices, then try to buy processed food that contains low sodium, low sugar and low saturated fat. Read the label carefully.

3. Go with whole natural food instead which carry lots of fiber, complex-carb and various other super phytonutrients (nutrients from plants) that your body needs for maximum fat loss. A natural vegetarian weight loss diet will definitely work much more effective in losing 5 pounds a week and maintaining good health than a heavily processed vegetarian diet for weight loss.

4. Keep your body hydrated at all times as maintaining sufficient water in body can stimulate your metabolism. Check your urine color - yellow means you need to drink more water, clear or pale yellow means you got enough water. Once enough, stop drinking to avoid getting water poisoning. Not necessary to stick to 8 glasses or 2 liters per day. Listen to your body.

Other Keys to Help You Lose Weight 5 Pounds in a Week the Vegetarian Way

1. Do interval training instead of cardio because interval training can burn more fat and lose more weight.

2. Work out in the morning as studies have shown that morning exercises give a better result in fat loss.

3. Use total bodyweight workouts for effective fat loss on belly, thighs and buttocks. Don't use crunches or sit-ups. Waste of time.

4. Get quality sleep. Turn in before 11 P.M. and sleep the number of hours you feel work best for you. Need not stick to 8 hours as you might not need that long to feel great.

Even though your goal is just to lose 5 pounds in a week, you should be strict with what you do so as not to inadvertently undo all your hard work for vegetarian weight loss.

Laura Ng invites you to grab your FREE vegetarian weight loss diet plan at http://www.inotfat.com/ now. Exploring Some Good Lunch Food Options

You have surely heard before that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day," but if you work full-time, lunch is definitely a close second, as lunch will be your "midway meal." You can end up feeling sluggish and tired for the rest of the day if you are eating the wrong foods at lunch; if, on the other hand, you are eating the right foods, you can experience an energy boost that will set you up nicely for the stretch run.

First off, you need to know the two specific things to avoid during the lunch hour: foods that have a lot of sugar in them, as these will give you a "crash" during the afternoon, and foods that are really heavy, as these will make you sleepy as your body works to digest them.

Fruit is a great option for lunch, as it is full of natural energy and other nutrients your body needs, and it is easy to digest without making you tired; in addition to fruit, you can try getting a smoothie for lunch, as this will pack your body full of natual energy while providing you with a meal that is easy to consume.

Nuts are another excellent source of natural energy; you can bring a baggie of mixed nuts with you, or you can pack some trail mix that will be tasty and easy to eat while giving you the energy you need!

If you are looking for something more "substantial," you can eat the sandwich you are used to eating at lunch, but consider eating only half of it, instead of eating the whole thing; the main thing is that you should eat until you are "content," but not until you are "full," as eating until you are "full" will make you more tired!

The afternoon might still bring that "2:30 feeling" your way, but when you make sure you are eating the right foods at lunch, that feeling will be a lot easier to deal with!

How To Stay Healthy In Cold Weather

When the weather is cold, people are much more susceptible to sickness, but while this is going to be the case no matter what you do to take measures against it, there are still a number of things you can do to keep yourself healthy when the weather turns cold - after all, unlike spring and summer (when airborne allergens can make you sick, and there is little you can do!), the cold is fairly easy to protect against.

One thing that you need to understand is that keeping heat in your body will be important if you are wanting to keep yourself from getting sick in cold weather, and more heat escapes your body through your head than through any other part of you; in addition to keeping your head covered in the cold, you will also want to keep your extremities (fingers and feet) warm, and will want to keep your chest covered with layers.

One thing that might seem minor on the surface, but that can actually make a big difference, is scraping frost off your car in the morning, and then driving into work in a cold car; instead of doing this, go outside about 15 minutes early and turn your car (and the defroster) on, so that your car will be warm, and your windshield will be cleared, by the time you get out there - realizing that the small amount of extra money you will spend in gas will be worth it for keeping you healthy!

And finally, you should understand that it is vital to keep your body clean if you hope to avoid sickness, and because it can be so cold to prepare for a shower when it is cold in your house (and because you may not be sweating as much when it is cold), it is easy to push showers off for a day or two; make sure you are still showering daily, however, in order to stay healthy!

When you keep these tips in mind (and when you keep these tips in mind for your children as well!), you will be able to keep a healthy family all throughout the winter.

Exploring The Health Benefits Of Honey

The knowledge most people have of honey extends about as far as "I don't know, it tastes really good," but they do not realize that there are also plenty of benefits honey offers beyond simply its taste! In fact, one misconception about honey is that it is unhealthy for the body (a misconception that has likely come about due to the fact that honey is sweet and it tastes good), but honey - unless taken in huge quantities - is not unhealthy at all, and in fact has three specific areas in which it is great for the body.

Firstly, honey is an excellent way to get energy into your body; unlike energy boosters that function primarily because of caffeine or sugar, honey provides long-term energy, as it gives the body glucose that kicks in for immediate energy and also gives the body fructose that gives the body sustained energy. In fact, plenty of athletes actually have added honey as part of their workout routine, or as part of their regimen during competition, because honey is able to give the body that push it needs in order to go the extra mile.

Secondly, honey is helpful in building up the body's immune system, as it is a tremendous antioxidant, and as it has anti-bacterial properties that can help improve the body's digestive system while helping you stay healthy and fight off diseases.

Pick up a 4 pack of Ambrosia Pure Honey from the Western Slope of Colorado.

And of course, thirdly, honey will help to chase away plenty of various ailments and diseases if they do come, as the ingestion of honey can help with everything from sore throats to arthritis pain to hangovers - and honey can even be used as an antibacterial agent in dressing cuts and wounds!

Unlike many substances that are "great to add to one's diet," but are also difficult to add because of the expense involved, the obscurity of the product, or the poor taste it gives to your food, honey is inexpensive, easy to find, and delicious - and by adding honey as a regular part of your diet, you will reap a great score of benefits!

How To Get Your Kids To Play Outside

It is quite likely that you can look back on your childhood and find fond memories of those days when you played outside for hours, until your parents forced you to come inside. In the winter, you played in the snow; in the fall, you played in the leaves; and in the spring and summer, you played whatever games your imagination came up with! These times spent outdoors may have been shared with your siblings, or perhaps you shared them with other kids who lived in your neighborhood. And all the way until dark, you would play sports or play make believe with these siblings and friends.

Nowadays, however, it seems like the only time most kids go outside is when they are sent outside by the school for recess. And if they are not in school, they are usually either staring at a computer screen, or they are watching television and playing video games from the couch. Television, video games, and computers are fine, of course, but they should be used in moderation; after all, children who play outside are healthier, their minds are stronger, and they are less susceptible to childhood obesity. Here are a few things that you can try doing if your goal is to encourage your own children to start playing outside.

First of all, realize that children have a tendency to rebel when they are being told what to do; if you "force" your children to play outside, they are less likely to enjoy it. Your best bet, instead, is to allow your children to "discover" playing outside of their own accord. You can take huge strides toward accomplishing this by doing these two things: 1) Limit the amount of "media time" your children can have each day, and 2) Take some time to play outside with them!

image

Your children will begin to naturally gravitate toward the outdoors as their computer, television, and video game time is limited each day. And your children will be drawn out of the house - and will be started on playing outside - when you go out there and play with them.

Although some children will take to the outdoors naturally, automatically playing outside without any nudge from you, this is not always the case; not to worry - just follow these tips, and you will notice your children playing outside more and more.

Alternatives To Coffee

Lots of people dislike coffee, and there are a variety of reasons for this; for some, they do not like the way coffee affects them; for others, coffee has more caffeine than they want; and of course, some people simply do not like the taste. If you are wanting to get a bit of an energy boost each day and are not necessarily wanting to drink coffee, it pays to be aware of some of the alternatives that are out there.

If the caffeine content in coffee is too high, and this is the reason you wish to avoid it, tea is a great alternative to try. For those afternoons when your friends are sitting around drinking coffee, tea is a great way to have a nice, hot drink with lower caffeine content. In fact, with tea, you even have the choice between green tea (which has less caffeine) and black tea (which has more caffeine) - each of which has significantly less caffeine than coffee.

If the reason you do not like coffee is because of the taste, rather than because of the caffeine content, energy drinks just might be the right choice for you. Red Bull is the most effective energy drink for most people, and if you do not want the sugar, you can even get sugar-free Red Bull. In fact, many find that sugar-free Red Bull even works better than regular Red Bull, as you get the energy without the "sugar crash" that can plague you with regular Red Bull.

And of course, if you want to avoid the sugar crash as well as the high caffeine content, try Five Hour Energy. Unlike Red Bull or even coffee, Five Hour Energy will not give you a sudden burst if you are on the verge of sleep. But Five Hour Energy will give you a fully-awake feeling much longer than you would usually have it, and it does so without making you feel like you have taken anything at all!

There are available alternatives to coffee for every different reason a person might have for not wanting to drink coffee. Try one of these three options if you have been wanting to stay away from coffee yourself, and you just might find that one of them is right for you!

The Perfect Diet For Weight Loss

by: Stephen Smith

The perfect diet for weight loss outlines exactly how you should structure your daily food intake in order to maximise your weight loss efforts.

Over the years there have been many different recommendations regarding what people should eat in order to lose weight and improve their health. Unfortunately, the recommendations are often conflicting, which leaves people confused about the best approach to take.

The Perfect Diet has been designed based on the most up-to-date scientific research. Best of all, its design is purely objective. There hasn't been any lobbying by food groups or 'sponsored' research to influence its structure (as may be the case with other food recommendations).

This eating format has been used successfully for many years by professionals in the health and fitness industry in order to assist people with their weight loss efforts. In this article we will cover the recommendations and the reasoning behind them.

Low Density Carbohydrates (fibrous vegetables): These are the type of foods you should emphasise most in your diet if you want to lose weight. You can virtually have an unlimited amount of them. They are nutrient-rich, calorie-sparse foods. They are classified as a carbohydrate but contain very little of it. They mainly contain fibre, water, phytonutrients, vitamins and minerals.

You should have at least 4-6 serves a day of these foods.

Examples include: broccoli, cauliflower, carrot, tomato, lettuce, green beans, spinach, cucumber, squash etc.

Lean Protein: If you took all the water out of your body over half of your dry weight would be protein. It is a component of all cells and as the name suggest (from Greek prôteios - of the first quality) is of primary importance in the body.

By having a serve of protein with every meal you provide your body with a constant supply of amino acids which has many vital functions in the body including, supporting the immune system, making enzymes, and constructing body tissue.

If you don't supply your body with high quality protein every 2-3 hours during the day then your body will go into a catabolic state and your metabolism will slow down, limiting your weight loss efforts.

You should have 5-6 serves a day of these foods.

Examples include: fish, chicken breast, lean steak, eggs, protein/meal replacement powders, soy-based products, legumes, nuts/seeds, etc.

Medium-density carbohydrates (fruits, starchy vegetables, dairy products): These foods have more carbs per serve than the low-density carbohydrates. Therefore, their ability to increase blood sugar is greater. Since they increase blood sugar, insulin will also get secreted, which means the body will be more likely to store body fat.

Accordingly, only 2-3 serves a day are suggested in the Perfect Diet. In saying this though, these are natural foods and do provide the body with a wide range of essential nutrients.

Examples include: potatoes, pumpkin, corn, bananas, peas, grapes, milk, apples, yoghurt, oranges, etc.

High-Density Carbs: These foods are concentrated sources of carbohydrate and tend to be refined grain-based foods like, bread, pasta, cereals, and rice. Government lobbying by food producers in the last century had these foods being recommended in higher quantities than natures own fruits and vegetables!

While they do contain some nutrients, they are loaded with carbs and can have a dramatic impact on your blood sugar levels. As a result, only 1-2 serves a day are recommended.

Examples include: pasta, bread, cereal, sugar, honey, fruit juice, rice, jam, etc.

Fats and Oils: These foods are the most energy dense, which means they have the potential to significantly add to your overall calorie intake. Therefore you must carefully control your intake of these foods. However, they do contain the fat-soluble vitamins, A, D, E and K, so they must be included in your daily food intake.

Only 1-2 serves a day of these foods is recommended.

Examples include: oils, avocado, almonds, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, peanut butter etc.

Extras: These foods are not an essential part of the Perfect Diet but they do fulfil our desire to consume good-tasting foods. Since your goal is to lose weight, only allow yourself to consume these foods once a week, on your 'Treat Day'. Have one or two meals on your treat day where these foods are included.

Examples include: take away foods, chocolate, cakes, biscuits, lollies, alcohol etc.

If you are considering losing weight and would also like to gain the benefits of feeling good, having more energy and improving your body's functioning then follow the Perfect Diet for 30 days. You will be amazed with the results!

How To Feel Younger

As you start to get older, you will find that there are many times when you wish you were still "feeling young"; not that this is so much an instance of feeling discontent, or of wanting to be in a different stage of your life than the one in which you are currently in, but more so that you will start to realize - as you get older - all the things you took for granted when you were younger! You will naturally feel a regression in the way you feel in certain areas as you get older, but while it is important that you are aware of this, there are also a number of things you can do in order to improve the way you feel even as you advance in age.

Your mind: Although the regression of your mind will be less immediately evident than the regression of your body, you will still want to make sure you are doing everything you can to keep your mind strong and "young" - and the best thing you can do to accomplish this is for you to regularly keep your mind engaged in enjoyable and challenging activities, such as brain games and other brain-teasing activities.

Your muscles: The older you get, the more you will find yourself feeling like simply sitting around on your bottom; while it is nice to relax at times, it is also nice for your muscles to remain in total working order, so make sure you are still moving around and remaining active, even as you have an excuse to simply sit around!

Your joints: Keeping your joints young will take a lot of the same things as keeping your muscles young - but you will also want to do what you can to strengthen your joints, and when it comes to strengthening your joints, the best thing for you to do is regularly walk or swim.

Even though preventing yourself from aging entirely is impossible, you can still take these steps to help your mind and body to continue feeling young, even as you age!

Tips For Working Out Your Abs Without Hurting Your Back

The majority of people wish that they had "great abs," but while many people try to make it sound like getting good ab muscles is as simple as doing a few easy workouts, this is rarely the case, as most ab workouts are not only far less effective than they claim to be, but many of them are also downright painful to do if your back is sensitive at all. If you are looking for a way to strengthen your abs without hurting your back, the good news is that there are not only a few things you can do that are quite easy, but these "quite easy" things are actually even more effective than most of the other workouts out there!

It will be important that you are aware of the fact that most workouts that are labeled "ab workouts" are actually "core workouts" - meaning that they strengthen your whole core, which includes your back - but if your back is in pain from strain, and not from simple "workout pain," you should be doing something different.

The one workout that is better for your whole body (including your core) than just about anything else is swimming, as it is a full-body workout that is also low-impact (which means it will not hurt your joints and muscles), but of course, swimming is not always a viable option if you do not have a pool of your own.

Whenever you do pushups, you will actually find that you are strengthening your core quite a bit, but even better than pushups is to assume the pushup position with your elbows and forearms resting on the ground, and to simply hold yourself in this position for as long as you can, repeating this for three to five reps; this might seem like you are doing nothing, but you will actually be giving your ab and back muscles a great workout!

And in keeping with the idea of workouts that feel like you are doing nothing, the one that feels this way more than any other is for you to sit on a fitness ball; it might seem like you are doing nothing but just sitting there, but incredibly, you will actually be strengthening your core the entire time!

Keeping Your Teeth White

One thing that a lot of people struggle with is figuring out how to keep their teeth white; after all, bleaching trays and products such as Crest Whitestrips certainly work, but these can also take a lot of time - and what's more, they make some people feel sick; because of this, it is natural to ask the question of whether or not there is a simple way to keep teeth white!

One of the best things you can do in order to keep your teeth white is to be careful of what is hitting your teeth; there are lots of different foods that will stain teeth - not to mention such drinks as cola and coffee - and unless you brush your teeth immediately after eating or drinking these things, they are absolutely certain to stain your teeth over time!

It is possible to stem the rate at which these things will stain your teeth by brushing after each time you eat or drink (anything besides water, that is), but this is not always a feasible option; one option that is feasible, however, and that also works well, is chewing on wood (think toothpicks!), as there are lots of tribal cultures that chew on wood throughout the day and have whiter teeth than most people with access to more advanced products!

And of course, you can always consider sticking with some of the aforementioned advanced products - such as bleaching trays and Crest Whitestrips - and if you are looking to quickly turn your teeth from "not so white" to "very white," you cannot do much better than this!

Generally speaking, if you are taking good care of your teeth (brushing two to three times each day, and flossing after each meal), your teeth are going to stay relatively white - but if you are looking for your teeth to really sparkle (or if you are trying to catch up from years of bad habits), these are all things worth keeping in mind!

Getting Back Into Shape

If you used to be an athlete (or if you simply used to be in shape!) and you recently realized that you have drifted far away from that "in shape" body, you might be looking for the best way to get back into shape. And while "the best way" would, of course, be for you to simply quit your job and work out all the time, this is not a viable option for most, which means that you not only need to know the "best way" to get back into shape, but you also need to know how to do so without having a ton of time on your hands!

The good news about trying to get back in shape in addition to working full-time is the fact that you do not need to work out for long stretches at a time in order to get back into shape; you do, however, need to be consistent with your workouts - which means you need to make your best effort to squeeze in a workout every single day.

If you have been used to not going to the gym at all, it can be difficult to suddenly start going every day, but one idea is to get back in shape by not even going to the gym! You can avoid the gym if you start finding other ways to work out, and can even have a lot more fun getting back in shape; simply find an activity you enjoy doing - such as kicking a soccer ball around, or jumping rope, or walking, or running - and keep up with it consistently.

When you "work out" by engaging in fun, productive activities such as these, you can start to vary what you do from day to day, which will continue to make your "workouts" easier. And over time, you will begin to see results from this simple practice of making sure you do a little bit of fun exercise every day - as your body will slowly return to the shape you were once used to being in!

Finding Exercises To Strengthen Your Core

These days, many people spend a lot of time exercising - wearing down their body with all sorts of different strenuous activities - and one of the main reasons why they do all this exercising is to get their body looking the way they want their body to look; what many of these people fail to realize, however, is that a lot of the exercises they are doing are fatiguing their body and doing it more harm than good - and if the area of their body they are trying to focus on is their core (that is, their abs!), there is really very little they need to in order to effectively work out this part of their body, and they can do so without wearing down their body in the process!

Not only will strengthening your core make your abs look good, but it will also strengthen your lower back, and will thereby make it less likely that you will deal with back problems, and will make it more likely that you will stay healthy overall - and the most basic way for you to strengthen your core is by doing pushups and crunches; keep your abs tightened while you do pushups, and try to do a few sets of crunches each day, and you will find that both your abs and your lower back are becoming a whole lot stronger.

You can also strengthen your core by doing anything that forces you to tighten your abdomen; a couple ways you can engage in exercises that have this result are by doing pull-ups (which will seriously work out your core!) and by using a weight machine on which you can do any sort of pull-down exercise.

And not only will you help you to strengthen your core by tightening your abs while doing pushups and doing exercises that force you to tighten your abs, but you can also strengthen your core just by tightening your abs when you are sitting right there at your computer reading this - or while you are sitting at your desk at work, or while you are driving in your car! Train yourself to start tightening your abs for about fifteen seconds at a time throughout the day, and you will soon find that your abs and your lower back are, quite incredibly, a whole lot stronger than they were before!

The Ten Healthy Snacks Your Child Will Gobble Up

image

Has your child gained some weight lately, but you're not sure exactly what to do about it? Try these healthy snacks to break your junk food addict of his or her bad habits.

Begin with introducing all kinds of fresh fruit. Shop with your child for a bunch of different fruit and have taste tests at home. Try the exotic stuff alongside the everyday.

Get an air popcorn popper and show your kids how much fun it is to pop and eat, even without the butter. Instead spray with a tiny bit of water and then salt it. If your kids love caramel corn, try air popped popcorn with a bit of low-cal pancake syrup; it's not a bad substitute.

Pretzel thins and cheese. You may want to buy cheddar cheese, which has a stronger flavor; a little goes a long way.

Hard boiled eggs. Let the kids have fun peel and eat the eggs, which will keep them feeling full because they have a lot of protein in them. Sprinkle a little salt, pepper, and paprika on the eggs to add flavor.

Ants on a log. Take a plateful of celery sticks, top them with a small amount of peanut butter, and then stick raisins of mini chocolate chips on them.

Serve cut veggies with salad dressing. You can let older kids carve the vegetables into sculptures before eating them.

Offer seasoned shrimp. Boil shrimp with Cajun spices and then let them peel and eat these high-protein, low-calorie snacks.

Make roll ups out of lunch meat and cheese. Roll up thin slices of lean meat with thin pieces of cheese, then stick a toothpick in each one.

Fruit smoothies. Blend frozen fruit and low cal juice and serve with a crazy straw. You can put yogurt in if your kids like it that way.

Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt contains two times the amount of protein as regular yogurt. It comes in all kinds of flavors--even honey and chocolate!

If you model healthy eating habits, your kids will be more likely to eat healthfully as well. For more suggestions, check out a healthy eating cookbook.

Get Rid Of Belly Fat

There is a problem that many of us deal with, whether we want to admit it or not. It remains there with us, no matter how much we fight it, hide it, or try to deny it. It makes us feel self-conscious and even uncomfortable at times. It is belly fat, and we cannot figure out how to make it go away! You are not alone, if you find yourself in this place. In fact, belly fat is one of the most common nuisances people deal with, and this is due largely to the fact that it is difficult to know exactly how to get rid of it. You might be in what seems to be a losing battle with belly fat, but you can turn things around by following these tips.

First off, you cannot just eat healthy - you also have to add in exercise. This does not just mean stomach exercises, either; you have to get your cardiovascular system going by doing aerobic workouts. You can get your metabolism going by jogging, walking, bicycling, or swimming three or four days a week. You absolutely must do this if you want to get rid of that pesky flab.

Next, you have to strengthen the muscles in your body by working out all parts. It might seem silly to think that pushups or squats would help you lose stomach fat, but it is true! This full-body workout will help your body optimize its ability to burn fat. These workouts do not need to be extreme or incredibly intense. Find something you enjoy, and then stick with it!

And finally, of course, you can certainly help your battle against stomach fat by doing stomach exercises. Do not just stick with one thing, though; mix it up by doing crunches, sit-ups, and other ab exercises. You will be burning fat in your abdominal area at the same time you are building muscle.

Although eating healthy and exercising your stomach are important in the pursuit of belly fat loss, they cannot help you get there alone. Take the time to figure out a workout schedule that works for you, where you can get your aerobic exercise and fit in workouts that take care of your entire body. That belly fat will finally begin to disappear, and you will be thrilled that you made the effort!

Free Vegetarian Weight Loss Plan

by: Laura Ng

An effective vegetarian weight loss plan must encompass 3 things - a proven vegetarian weight loss diet, a set of sure-fire fat-burning workouts and easy-to-follow weight loss tips. They work just like your brain, heart and kidney. Short of one and your weight loss regimen will likely fail. Let's run through a free sample of vegetarian weight loss plan to show you precisely what you need so that you can use it as a guide to customize your own vegetarian weight loss diet plan.

To make it easy for you to follow through this free vegetarian weight loss plan, I'll insert tips alongside the vegetarian weight loss diet as well as the fat-burning workouts.

Free Vegetarian Weight Loss Plan - Diet

You need 5 vegetarian weight loss meals to power your day - boost metabolism, burn fat, feed energy to fuel your activities. In this meal plan, your breakfast, lunch and dinner should contain about 40 - 60% fibrous food. If you feel too much for your condition, you can do some adjustments accordingly. You'll insert snack in between them to help you remain metabolically active and keep you going.

In each of these main vegetarian weight loss meals, your breakfast, lunch and dinner should each keep you full up to 70% only, while your snack 30 - 40%. When you fill your stomach to the brim in every meal, you'll abuse your insulin level, and over time you'll suffer from diabetic condition. Also, as more blood flows to aid in food digestion, less blood carrying oxygen will flow to your brain, resulting in sleepiness. Therefore, 70% for main meal is the ideal level. Bear in mind.

Here's a brief sample vegetarian weight loss diet to give you an idea.

Breakfast - Oatmeal. You can sprinkle some dried apricots, dried cranberries, pistachio nuts, flaxseeds over to improve its nutritional value and make it look more appealing.

Morning Snack - Mixed fruits.

Lunch - Veggie burger. Use pan-seared Portobello mushroom as the meat substitute (you can prepare this early in the morning before you leave for work). Then top the mushroom with some shredded veggies. Add a piece of vegan cheese and a dash of curried lentil sauce. You can also spice it up moderately with cayenne pepper which produces thermogenic effect to help you burn more fat.

Afternoon Snack - Mixed grains, nuts and seeds.

Dinner - Rainbow salad. Include any salad vegetables and chopped fruits of your favorite. Mix 1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil, 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar and 2 tbsp virgin coconut oil as salad dressing.

You should make your dinner rich in fiber so that you won't crave for supper or night snack, and should last you till the following morning.

Free Vegetarian Weight Loss Plan - Exercise

You can go with any exercise so long as you feel comfortable. But if you want to maximize your vegetarian fat loss, you should do high-intensity interval training. For example, you'll cycle at normal speed for a minute, and then on next minute you increase the speed. After a minute, you drop your speed back to normal again. Scientists and researchers have proven that such low-high-low intensity pattern will help you burn more fat.

For best fat loss effect, do it in the morning, preferably before 7 A.M. Any other times in the day works fine if you can't make it so early. The truth is, you'll still burn fat, albeit lesser.

Bonus Vegetarian Weight Loss Tips

Take this free vegetarian weight loss plan and do some customization to fit into your own needs and schedules. You may need to find out the list of foods available in your nearby stores to make sure you always have the ingredients at your disposal to whip up delicious fat loss meals.

For fat-burning workouts, you need not buy expensive equipment or gadgets (if you want to save on that). You can use full bodyweight exercises such as jumping jacks, plank, side plank, pushups, lying hip extension, step-ups, bicycle crunch, mountain climbers, Spiderman climbs, prisoner squat etc. You can perform them in the comfort of your own home. You'll lose fat just as effective.

Last but not least, your vegetarian weight loss plan should also include getting quality sleep and consume adequate amount of water for proper hydration, so that you can detox optimally and lose weight effectively as a vegetarian with half the effort and time.

Do Your Sensitive Teeth Cause You Problems?

Sensitive teeth can be a very painful problem for those who suffer with it. If your teeth are painful, you should see a dentist to determine why you are suffering. There are a wide range of reasons that you may be having tooth sensitivity. One reason is that your genetics may have caused you to have weaker enamel. You could have gum recession and the softer dentin of the root is beginning to show and is being warn away. Age can also be a factor in tooth sensitivity along with cavities.

Toothpastes such as Sensodyne, and Pronamel Sensitive are two toothpastes that can help with sensitive teeth. These toothpastes block the little tubes that are in your teeth naturally. For these toothpastes to work they need to be the soul toothpaste used. It is smart to avoid whitening toothpastes and hydrogen peroxide whitening if you suffer from sensitivity.

Soft or ultra soft toothbrushes are an absolute necessity for sensitive teeth and gum recession issues. Medium and hard bristle brushes are much more likely to wear down the gums exposing sensitive dentin of the roots. The tops (enamel) of our teeth is very hard.  Dentin is much softer in comparison. If you brush this dentin too hard, you can actually begin to wear away parts of your tooth creating sensitivity.

The likelyhood of tooth sensitivity can be reduced simply from brushing your teeth correctly. The bristles of your brush should be at a 45-degree angle to the teeth and gums. Stop using back and forth motions; instead use small circular motions. This reduces wear on any exposed dentin. Electric toothbrushes can be a great option for you.

Always avoid mouthwashes with high alcohol. This can dry out the mouth and contribute further to already existing problems. Flossing is very important to the health of your teeth and gums. When it comes to flossing, just do it.  It doesn't matter if you used waxed or unwaxed floss.

It is very important to keep our teeth healthy and tooth sensitivity should be looked at seriously by a dental care professional. There are some problems that take more then toothpaste for sensitive teeth to fix.

Natural Alternatives To Caffeine And Energy Drinks

If you have ever found yourself feeling unusually tired, you understand what a hassle it can be. After all, we need to be awake in order to function. Being exceptionally tired can impair our thinking, and can make it so that we enjoy life a whole lot less. Some people turn to energy drinks or to caffeine in order to solve the problem of always feeling tired, but others cannot go with these options, as caffeine and energy drinks tend to keep some people awake at night, while for others these options do not seem to work at all. Here are some healthy, natural alternatives to caffeine and energy drinks.

Getting more sleep is the easiest and most important way you can make sure that you are not always feeling tired. Even though this might seem like an elementary solution, too many people do not get enough sleep, and this is the reason why they feel tired all the time. Eight hours of uninterrupted sleep is what your body should get each and every night. If you are tired all the time, ask yourself whether you are consistently getting as much sleep as your body requires.

Catching a nap in the middle of the day is an excellent way to stay awake. Even though you might work at a place that does not allow you to nap, your place of employment probably does allow you to take a lunch break. Your naps should always be thirty minutes at the most, otherwise the nap might make you even more tired. And during your lunch break, it is very easy to squeeze in a 15-30 minute nap.

Finally, watch what you are putting into your body. Your body is more likely to feel tired if you are always feeding it foods that are full of sugar and preservatives. You will also feel more tired if you are only sitting down to eat two or three times a day. Eat healthy, and eat small meals throughout the day. Not only will this help your body to start feeling more awake, but it will also keep your body looking thinner than it would on three meals per day!

It is very easy to take steps that will ensure that you are not feeling tired. Your body can feel a whole lot better, and all you have to do is make a few small adjustments!

The Statute Of Limitations, And How It Affects You

When you go to a doctor or to the hospital for any sort of procedure, the last thing you want is for something to go wrong. But even if you do not want to think about this possibility, there are times when things go wrong. If you ever find yourself in this unenviable position, the possibility of suit will probably come to mind. If you decide to sue for one of these things, there are a lot of factors to keep in mind, but one of the most important factors is the statute of limitations. Essentially, the statute of limitations sets a limit on how long someone has before they are no longer allowed to file suit for malpractice. The specifics of the statute of limitations vary from state to state, and if you are thinking about filing suit yourself you will want to take the time to learn and understand the specifics in place in the state where your procedure took place.

The basic foundation of the statute of limitations is the limit on how long you can wait before filing suit for malpractice. This allowed amount of time can vary from a couple years to much longer, and with extenuating circumstances it can stretch up to several years down the road. But in those instances where negative ramifications of a surger or operation are recognized immediately, the basic statute of limitations applies. The amount of time allowed from this point is generally between two and four years, and this time begins right away.

One of the major extenuating circumstances is a delayed identification of negative effects. Perhaps an ommission or an instance of negligence occurred during surgery - or perhaps a downright mistake was made - but there is no evidence of this for a couple of years. In such a situation, the statute of limitations begins on the date when the adverse effects are first discovered.

Finally, states also impose an abolute cap, which sets a number of years after which suit can no longer be filed, even in those instances where the problem is discovered late. For instance, Massachusetts allows people four years to file suit from the date they discover the problem, but if they fail to file suit before seven years after the original mistake or ommission - no matter how late they discovered the issue - they are no longer allowed to file suit. This time is far shorter in the state of Florida, with the absolute cap being set at four years.

Know the statute of limitations in your state if you find yourself in the unfortunate position of needing to file a malpractice suit, and act accordingly.

Ins and Outs of Guided Meditation

Have you wanted to start a guided meditation practice, but are not sure how to get started? Are you looking for a starting point? The advantage of guided meditation sessions is you just focus on the instructor as you learn the discipline of taming your mind.

When starting, you'll want to choose between a guided meditation class or an at-home session led by a guided meditation CD. You will have to decide if you're looking for a meditation program that will address a specific need--such as smoking cessation or dealing with a loss--or if you are meditating just to learn how to meditate.

In-person meditation classes are great because you get to meet others who practice sitting. You'll learn important things like what positions are best for sitting for long periods of time. Many people find the group setting helps them establish discipline with their practice, especially in the beginning. You’ll also have the advantage of seeing your guide and learning some about his or her practice.

A good meditation CD will be between half hour and an hour long. You'll need to set yourself up in a quiet room with ample time alone. After you start the CD, sit in a comfortable position that you can maintain for a long time without falling asleep or moving, and listen to the guide.

Pay attention to your breath as you follow the breathing exercises, deepening your relaxation and meditation. Next the guide will provide an image or a mantra or a storyline, something to help you go deeper into your meditative state. Then the instructor will guide you through thoughts about change or acceptance or relaxation, depending on the focus of the CD. As the CD comes to a close, the instructor will gently bring you out of your meditative state, preparing you to handle everyday life, armed with your new knowledge.

Guided meditation can provide many benefits, including stress relief and improvement of mental focus.

Tips For Improving Your Memory

The fading or loss of memory is a fear many people deal with, but they fail to realize that this is not at all something for them to be “afraid” of; instead, this is a concern that they should be conscious of, as being conscious of it will allow them to take the proper steps to improve memory. And the best news of all about taking steps to improve memory is that improving your memory is enjoyable, and is also very easy!

Making sure that you are consistently engaged in mental activity is one of the best ways to improve your memory; for many people, the job they work is enough to satisfy this requirement, but for many others (perhaps even the vast majority), work itself is little more than an opportunity for them to shut their mind off for a few hours; if this is the case for you, playing games and engaging with puzzles that help you use your mind will keep your memory strong.

Eating brain foods is another great way to improve your memory; there are some supplements such as Ginko Biloba that are naturally good for stimulating memory, but there are also regular foods such as blueberries and wild salmon that will go a long way in helping your brain; in fact, even dark chocolate and coffee (if organic and fresh) can go a long way in helping your brain!

And the state of your memory down the road will also be largely dependent on the amount of rest you get; you need to make sure you get a full amount of sleep every night, and it will also be important for you to rest and relax at least a little bit every single day.

By making sure you are taking these steps toward improving your memory, you will not only lessen the chances of ending up with memory problems down the road, but you will also improve the functionality of your brain in the short term; just a few simple steps will go a long way in helping you for ages.

7 Vegetarian Weight Loss Foods Your Vegetarian Weight Loss Diet Should Contain

by: Laura Ng

What weight loss foods should you include in your vegetarian weight loss diet for maximum fat loss? Of all vegetarian weight loss foods, vegetables help you lose weight most effectively, particularly these 7 super vegetables:

Vegetarian Weight Loss Food #1 - Kelp

How does kelp help you lose weight? Besides being low in cholesterol, kelp provides your body with good amount of dietary fiber, vitamin C, pantothenic acid, calcium and minerals such as iodine.

Iodine in kelp keeps your thyroid function properly. It stimulates a hormone produced by the thyroid gland that's responsible for boosting metabolism, so you'll burn more fat. If your weight gain is related to thyroid disorder, kelp can help you lose weight. It has also been shown to lower the blood cholesterol levels.

However, seek your doctor's advice before loading on kelp as too much iodine can have a negative effect on your thyroid. Adding kelp moderately in your vegetarian weight loss diet is the key to lose weight optimally with kelp.

Vegetarian Weight Loss Food #2 - Celery

An 8-inch stalk of celery contains approximately 6 calories. But the mere act of digesting this stalk burns more than 6 calories, resulting in a negative calorie count. In other words, you'll use up more calories from your energy reserve (fat storage) to break down celery, achieving fat loss.

Not only that, celery provides a good source of vitamin C and fiber (as in kelp), and fiber is one key ingredient to help you detox and lose weight more effectively. It contains unique oil that helps to relax your muscles, which improves blood flow and regulates blood pressure. It's especially good for you if you're having hypertension.

Vegetarian Weight Loss Food #3 - Spinach

Spinach carries lots of fiber which helps you stay full longer and reduce the overall number of calories that you consume each day. You can also benefit from its rich content of vitamin K and calcium which help to prevent or treat osteoporosis and the loss of bone density.

Vegetarian Weight Loss Food #4 - Cucumber

Cucumber contains sterols which can help to lower cholesterol and prevent carbohydrates from converting to body fat. Filling yet low in calories, it's a great choice in salads. It also helps you digest better and bears a cleansing effect on your bowel. With normal bowel function, you'll lose weight efficiently with less effort.

Vegetarian Weight Loss Food #5 - Radish

As radish is rich in vitamin C but low in calories, fat and stimulates metabolism, it's popular as a weight loss snack. However, eating too much radishes is very cooling for your body, especially if you already bear a "cool" body constitution, defined in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) terms.

This means that your immunity to cold and cough could be affected, especially during winter. Thus, eat them in moderation.

Vegetarian Weight Loss Food #6 - Bean Sprouts

These refer to sprouting from mung beans, alfalfa, lentils, chickpeas and soya beans. Sprouting actually helps to turn the starches, oils and other nutrients in beans to vitamins, enzymes and other forms of proteins, minerals and sugars.

A single helping of fresh sprouted mung beans contains about three quarter of the daily requirement of vitamin C. Sprouting increases the presence of vitamin B in beans, including thiamin, folate, B6 and biotin and produces less intestinal wind when consumed.

How do these vitamins in bean sprouts help you lose weight? They'll nourish your body and keep your body metabolically active. When your metabolism runs at full tank, you'll burn fat and lose weight. Simple logic. Oh, you can buy them at cheap prices too. A cheap weight loss food to add into your vegetarian weight loss diet indeed.

Vegetarian Weight Loss Food #7 - Broccoli

Most vegetables carry lots of fiber that helps you feel full and satisfied easily and sustain your activity over longer period of time, but I highly recommend broccoli here due to its high nutritional value - rich in vitamin C and carotenoids, and also contains protein, all-important B vitamins, phosphorus, potassium, chromium and calcium etc.

You'll lose weight with broccoli when it stops you from eating more food, but you'll also gain health with its antioxidant properties and anti-carcinogenic (cancer-fighting) power. Hence, broccoli is a must-add ingredient in your vegetarian weight loss diet.

No doubt these 7 vegetables can help you lose weight effectively as a vegetarian, you should also include other varieties of plant-based foods to achieve both effective weight loss and excellent health.
