Skin Care Advice for Teens

Do you have teenagers in your house? Are you looking for simple skin care solutions? Check out these handy skin care tips for the healthiest adolescent skin around.

Stay on top of your skin. It's important to wash in the morning and night, but you really shouldn't wash more than that. If you wash too often, you'll risk dry skin problems, like flaking or cracking skin. Always use a mild cleanser, not soap.

Add an exfoliant to your routine, getting all the oil and dirt out of your pores. Make a scrub at home by combining three uncoated aspirin tablets with a bit of water in a little dish. Crush it up with a spoon, mixing in the water. Add two tablespoons of honey. Scrub this all over your forehead, nose, and chin, rubbing it in. Rinse with warm water.

Moisturize morning and night. Use a moisturizer with salicylic acid to prevent additional breakouts. Don't be afraid of moisturizer; just buy an oil-free version. The bigger problem is when you don’t moisturize, because then your skin is thirsty and overproduces oil to compensate for the dryness.

Don't use cream or liquid foundation on active breakouts. Apply light coatings of mineral powder forms of make up, taking it easy on irritated skin.

If you have persistent blackheads, pay for a professional, thorough extraction. It's best not to remove stubborn blackheads at home, but if you do, be sure to sterilize your hands and instruments, and wash your face before and after. Try not to irreparably damage skin. It’s worth it to pay a professional once in a while so you won’t do serious damage to your skin that may result in scarring.

The small time investment will help you have glowing skin. Daily attention is essential for good skin.
